New this year, fans can play along and join the excitement at No. 17 by tweeting who they think will be closest to the pin in each group, each day of the competition. Votes will be aggregated for each group and displayed on the video board at No. 17, and fans' creative tweets will be highlighted there as well, giving them a chance to "see their name in lights."

IDS is proud to be associated with Tennis Australia to deliver state of the art services for the AO Series, leading to the AUS Open.
For over 20 years, IDS has been involved with the Australian Open in every aspect of this Grand Slam. Beside our core services, IDS has helped Tennis Australia deliver enhanced and tailored services for the fans, media, broadcast, players, and sponsors. In 2012, IDS is proud to launch the AO Vision services, an IPTV solution that integrates live and historical data (scoring and video).
One of our most long-term partners, Indian Wells and IDS continue working together to deliver innovative services with “On Demand Content, ” Information Towers, Line Calling replay services on all courts, and Superwall services, creating a Grand Slam environment and unique experience for all constituencies of the event.
Entering 26 years of services with SE Open, IDS have launched many new services in Miami including our serve speed system. With today current technologies, IDS has helped SE Open deliver their HD CCTV with new content, upgrade the fans’ video displays, and implement a content management system for all courts. IDS again provided large format video displays at the 17th Hole and 18th hole as well as within "The Patio" and "The Grove" fan comfort areas. IDS also provided our custom GolfTeeV closed circuit television channel that was distributed around the course within the hospitality suites and clubhouse.
New for 2012 was the additional of the custom-designed IDS Information Tower to the Southwest corner of the Stadium Village. The four-sided display structure provided fans directional information to popular holes, hospitality locations and places of interest as well as scoring information. The addition of the information tower continued the Championship's mission of improving the fan experience.

New to The PLAYERS this year is the Closest to Pin 17 Social Media Challenge.
The PLAYERS Closest To Pin 17 social media challenge is an interactive competition among fans where participants can vote via Twitter for a golfer in each playing group who they believe will drive the ball closest to the pin on hole 17. A unique hashtag will be created for each player in the field using the player's first initial and last name, i.e. #17TWoods.
IDS, using Social Media DMX, will manage the stream of hashtag mentions for each of the players. The stream will reset at the beginning of each day and provide live Twitter mention counts for each player as the day progresses.
When a group reaches the 17th tee, IDS will pull the total mentions for each of the three players in the group and provide a percentage calculation between the three players within the group (for example, Woods 65%, Ogilvy 20%, Singh 15%). The social media fan voting would be promoted via The PLAYERS and PGA Tour social media extensions, on-site static and electronic messaging as well as within the daily pairings guide.
